Here's why people are falling through the cracks (edhat.com) — Residents should know that Proposition 36 drug cases are being handled at San Mateo County Superior Court's Southern Branch in Redwood City, but many defendants statewide are struggling to actually receive and complete treatment. The investigation shows big gaps in funding, housing, mental health care, and program consistency between counties, leaving many people homeless or waiting weeks for scarce treatment slots despite the law's promise of "mass treatment."
