“We see it after every World Cup soccer match. Six days after the finals and one team is awarded the cup, the fans sober up and discover a void of meaninglessness in their lives that had been filled by soccer,” says FIFA spokesperson Luis Brazofuerte. “This year, FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association, pronounced “Fee-fa”) partners with GUFA (Groupe Universal Funsters Association, pronounced “Guffaw”) to pre-empt World Cup Withdrawal.”

GUFA member organization, Blue Blanket Improv (BBI), will be performing short form improvisational comedy at FIT Studio in Half Moon Bay on Saturday, July 19th, exactly timed for the critical “6 days post-finals”.

BBI Coach Marc Samuels offers solace to the bereft football fan:  “If your team was eliminated by a bad call in the semis, the best way to recover is to laugh it off.  If you’re struggling to find the humor in the situation or life in general, we can help. See the BBI team take the stage, and make up funny scenes based on your suggestions.”

“World Cup fans are so used to screaming suggestions at the refs that they fit in well at our shows,” Samuels continued.  “We do keep a stack of red cards for ejecting members whose comments are not family friendly, since our shows are appropriate for fans of all ages.”
