Police said they will be conducting an upcoming DUI checkpoint and have just announced when and where.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police will hold a DUI checkpoint Saturday in Redwood City and have announced the time and location, police said.

The Redwood City Police Department has planned a DUI checkpoint for 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at El Camino Real near Hopkins Avenue, then Woodside Road near Alameda De Las Pulgas., police said.

“Impaired drivers put themselves and others on the road at significant risk,” said Redwood City Chief of Police Kristina Bell. “It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taken drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places.”

Police are reminding the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol but also some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Cannabis may be legal to use in California but it is still illegal to drive under the influence, police said.
