Boy Wanders From Peninsula Juvenile Detention Center, Found Nearby: Police [UPDATED]

BREAKING: The Peninsula facility is operated by the San Francisco Juvenile Probation Department for delinquent male juveniles.

UPDATE: A juvenile offender who walked away from a minimum security detention facility Monday night in unincorporated San Mateo County was apprehended nearby a few hours later, according to the county's probation department.

The boy walked away from Camp Glenwood at 400 Log Cabin Ranch Road in the La Honda area around 8:30 p.m., according to Chief Probation Officer John Keene, but he never left the area and was already back in custody Tuesday afternoon.
"He was found maybe a mile away from the facility," Keene said. "He really didn't put up a fight, just came right back with the staff."

County officials initially reported that the boy had walked away from the Log Cabin Boys School, which Keene said is quite close to Camp Glenwood, but those reports were found to be inaccurate.
