ARTS RWC: Monotype Printmaking Workshop

Sign up for a Monotype Printmaking Workshop at Little House!

YO REDWOOD CITY!
Long time...glad to be back w/y'all!   I wanted to say I hope you have enjoyed all the FABULOUS events put on by Redwood City all summer...wow.  And it will continue, so don't let your attention wander even for a...um....second.
I wanted to share this special event with you, even if it is a tad beyond the Redwood City border.  What are good neighbors for?  Anyway, it has a Redwood City connection as Mary Alice Bowie (maryalicebowie.com) is VERY involved-she is a fabulous Redwood City artist, doing monoprints at the Linden Street Gallery (275B Linden Street, RWC), and a member of ARTS RWC, dedicated to making RWC a destination for the arts. And, if you hurry, you can see a bunch of her fabulous prints at La Tartine (830 Middlefield Road, RWC).
So, read on and take advantage of this cool workshop and let your inner artist (and you know you have one) out to play!!
Monotype Printmaking Workshop
Please join us for an exploratory foray into the luscious world of monotype printmaking on Wednesday, October 3, 10AM – 4PM at Peninsula Volunteers Little House Activity Center. Workshop cost $120 per person. Materials are provided and class is limited to 10.

The workshop is presented by master printmaker, Kathryn Kain, in conjunction with Smith-Anderson Editions in Palo Alto. Kathryn Kain teaches the basics of monotype printmaking using oil-based inks, brayers, and plates to produce unique prints on 100% rag Rives BFK printmaking paper on her small etching press. The size will be limited to ¼ sheets (15” x 11”). There will be 8” x 10” Plexiglas plates available and other random sizes all designed for the ¼ sheet of Rives paper. Lace, stencils, collage, mylar, drypoint and chine-colle may be incorporated into the prints. The possibilities are unlimited. Bring an apron and latex gloves for protection as the inks are permanent and oil-based.

To register for the class please contact Julie Scales at 650-326-2025 Ext. 229
