Redwood City Should Create A Financial District

Redwood city should create a financial district, and as a side benefit would formalize the city square centered around the courthouse.

As the Theatre District has taken shape, the city should look towards creating other districts to aggregate businesses.

I propose the Financial District be created on Jefferson between Veterans and Marshall. This strip would be anchored by on one end and on the other.  Conveniently, these banking establishments already exist.

The two other major banks are Chase and Bank of America.  Working with both banks, current property owners on Jefferson, the county and the state, a deal could be struck that would relocate both banks to Jefferson.  The city could negotiate with a variety of options to lure the banks into the Financial District.  Possibly with credit and waivers for new office buildings.

Finally, what to do about where Chase and BoA exist currently ?  Well, that land gets turned over to the city and the buildings are removed and replaced with parks, possibly with the addition of a few redwood groves.

Then the city would have a financial district with some major banks all together, and then a much larger downtown square with both blocks on either side of the courthouse being utilized.
