Free First Friday at the San Mateo County History Museum

FREE First Fridays Returns October 2

Spend the day exploring the San Mateo County History Museum during FREE First Fridays on Friday, October 2, 2026. Thanks to sponsorship from Monterra Credit Union, admission is free all day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with two special programs offered at no charge.

At 11 a.m., preschoolers can celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in the Land of Opportunity: The Immigrant Experience Gallery. Museum staff will share the story Lucia the Luchadora, followed by a fun craft activity where children can create their own paper masks.

At 2 p.m., adults can join Museum docents for a guided tour and discover more about the stories, people and innovations that have shaped San Mateo County.

Located inside Redwood City's 116-year-old Old Courthouse at 2200 Broadway, the San Mateo County History Museum explores the Peninsula's history—from the Ohlone people and the region's natural resources to suburban development, diverse communities and innovative achievements.

FREE First Fridays are sponsored by Monterra Credit Union. No admission or program fees are required.
