City Mulls a Red Morton Park YMCA

A YMCA could soon be built on the site of an existing Morton Park senior center, officials said on Wednesday.

A joint letter from Redwood City Mayor Alicia Aguirre and a representative of the YMCA of Silicon Valley announced the formation of a partnership committee to study the feasibility of creating a multiuse facility at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center.

Aguirre and the YMCA's Janice Fry said the partnership will solicit community input and that no decision have yet been made.

They acknowledged that Hudson Street YMCA can no longer accommodate growing demand, and the VMSC needs renovations anyway.
