DUI Nanny Crashes Into Peninsula Elementary School Fence, Injures Child: Police

Police say the nanny was at the school to pick a child up and had an infant in her car at the time of the crash. (breaking)

BELMONT, CA — A San Mateo woman is facing DUI and child endangerment charges after allegedly crashing through an elementary school's fence in Belmont, injuring a child in the process, according to Belmont police. The incident at Cipriani Elementary School was reported at 3:06 p.m. Monday.

"Police and Fire responded to the scene and found a Toyota Corolla had driven through the fence off Buena Vista Avenue and struck a student, before coming to rest near the school building," Belmont police said in a news release.

An 11-year-old boy, who was not identified, was treated by paramedics at the scene for injuries described as "non-life-threatening." He was then taken to an area hospital, police said.

Police identified the driver as San Mateo resident Evgeniya Martynova, 64. She is employed as a nanny and was at the school to pick up a student, police said. She had an infant in the car with her at the time of the crash, but the child was unhurt.

Martynova was taken to the Redwood City jail on charges of DUI and child endangerment, police said.
