Emerald Hills Man Accused Of Inappropriately Touching Young Girls

BREAKING: Sheriff's officials say the man is facing charges of lewd acts on a child after two young girls reported the behavior.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — An Emerald Hills resident is accused of "inappropriately" touching two young girls as he worked for a Peninsula school district's after-school program, the sheriff's office announced Wednesday. The alleged acts happened while he was employed by the San Carlos School District, which has since fired him, according to San Mateo County sheriff's officials.

Sheriff's Det. Salvador Zuno says an investigation began in September when a 6-year-old girl reported she was touched by 19-year-old Hoang Tran, who worked as a program aide at an after-school care program at Brittan Acres Elementary School.

"After the disclosure, school officials were contacted and Tran was immediately placed on leave from his position," Zuno said in a news release. "Tran did not return to his position and was released as an employee by the San Carlos School District."

What's more, as authorities investigated the allegations, a 7-year-old girl said she was "inappropriately touched by Tran sometime in the beginning of the school year," Zuno said.

On Monday, sheriff's detectives arrested Tran at the Hall of Justice in Redwood City, Zuno said.
