Free Earthquake Damage Prevention Workshop for Peninsula Businesses, Organizations
The event will feature something called the "quake cottage"-- an earthquake simulator that makes you feel you're in an 8.0 temblor.

The following is a news release submitted on behalf of QuakeSmart:
More than 80 San Francisco area businesses will get QuakeSmartTM at the Earthquake 2014 Business Preparedness Summit in San Mateo, California on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
The summit, the second in a series of free earthquake damage prevention workshops for businesses and organizations, is co-presented by the nonprofit Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH).
The workshop will focus on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) QuakeSmart Community Resilience Program for Businesses and Organizations which provides comprehensive earthquake assessments and engineering and retrofit information designed to keep businesses open post-earthquake. Mitigating nonstructural earthquake damage, the type of damage that was prevalent in the Napa magnitude 6.0 earthquake in August, will be a special focus at the San Mateo workshop. Attendees will complete initial QuakeSmart assessments and learn how to begin budgeting and planning for earthquake retrofit projects.
