Happy 150th Anniversary, Redwood City! New Website Celebrates Community's Many Historical Moments
Website Features Highlights on Events, Historic Moments and How to Volunteer for the 2017 Sesquicentennial Committee.

REDWOOD CITY, CA – To celebrate Redwood City's Sesquicentennial in 2017, the City of Redwood City launched today its official 150th anniversary website to share updates on upcoming celebrations, inform the community about the city's storied past and encourage everyone to get involved.
"We're hoping to inspire the community to get involved in the Sesquicentennial festivities and appreciate the history of Redwood City, which was recently designated a Preserve America City by the White House earlier this year," said Mayor John Seybert.
Visitors to www.RedwoodCityHistory.org can find:
- Incredible photo galleries highlighting remarkable moments and buildings in the community's history, from late 19th-century slice of life shots to the 1967 Centennial;
- Continuously updated blogs from City staff and local history experts about various fascinating topics, from Wyatt Earp's Redwood City watering hole and the early days of the Redwood City Fire Department to Sequoia High School;
- Detailed timeline on Redwood City's history through the past 150 years;
- Upcoming events, such as the City Council kickoff on Jan. 9, 2017 and a 150th Anniversary Festival with a Flower Extravaganza on May 20, 2017.
- Ongoing announcements such as a "Redwood City - Past - Present and Future" high school art show contest and a fun "Owlized" program featuring an innovative, 360-degree visual platform that enables public audiences to look backward in time and "step into" rich media content.
