King Tides Prompt Coastal Peninsula Flood Advisory
The highest astronomical tides of the year may impact low-lying areas along the coast and bay shoreline from Thursday through Monday.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the Peninsula coast due to King Tides.
The advisory, which is in effect though 3 p.m. Monday, covers the greater Bay Area coast from the North Bay to Big Sur. It warns of increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents.
Please be aware of 2 coastal hazards through the weekend. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect thru Monday afternoon due to King Tides. And a Beach Hazard Statement goes into effect this weekend due to enhanced risk of sneaker waves and rip currents. #CAwx pic.twitter.com/mAPYb4OFSZ

The NWS has also issued a Beach Hazard Statement, which will be in effect from 7 p.m. Friday through 4 p.m. Sunday.
