A man died at a hospital Sunday after suffering an apparent heart attack at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara during the second half of a San Francisco 49ers preseason game, a fire chief said Monday.

The Santa Clara Fire Department, which stationed emergency units at the stadium, on Sunday was called about the stricken male fan during the third quarter of the game pitting the 49ers versus the Denver Broncos, Fire Chief William Kelly said.

Paramedics performed CPR to try and revive the victim, who was a middle-aged man attending the game with some family members, Kelly said.

The man was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later, according to Kelly. Nothing specific seemed to have caused the man to go into cardiac arrest, Kelly said.
