Community Corner

March for Renters' Rights, Saturday, February 14, 10:00 a.m., Main Library (patio)

A march is scheduled to demonstrate the concern renters have for the skyrocketing rents, which are hurting Redwood City residents.

Redwood City Residents for Housing Security is hosting a march to demonstrate concern for the instability many families, their children, and seniors, who have been in our community for decades, are experiencing. Residents used to stay in their apartments for 10, 20, 30 years, because they were affordable. That is no longer the case. Apartments now have swinging doors, with new residents moving in and out every weekend. It seemed that Redwood City welcomed residents of all incomes. Clearly, residents of all incomes are still needed. They are servers in our restaurants, clerks in our stores, EMTs, childcare workers, at-home care workers, etc. Almost half of our residents are renters. They deserve protection.

If you’re a renter, come join us. If you’re not, come join us and show your support. All are welcome.
