More than 9K Peninsula PG&E Customers Lose Power in Storm

Crews have restored power to about 20,200 PG&E customers in the Bay Area affected by the rainstorm Wednesday night and earlier Thursday, a PG&E spokeswoman said.

The overnight storm knocked out power to 9,400 customers on the Peninsula, 5,800 in the East Bay, 500 in the South Bay, 2,000 in the North Bay, and 2,500 in San Francisco, PG&E spokeswoman Fiona Chan said.

Winds were responsible for most of the outages in the Bay Area, Chan said. PG&E crews work around the clock to trim trees to prevent power outages, she said.

About 2,000 San Francisco customers remained without power in a separate outage Thursday morning and PG&E officials do not know if that outage is related to the storm. Crews are working in the area of Fourth and Townsend streets near AT&T Park to restore power and the cause of the outage is being investigated, Chan said.
