Mountain Lion Reported In Woodside
Officials say a mountain lion may have been spotted Wednesday morning in town (breaking).

WOODSIDE, CA — San Mateo County officials warned the public on Wednesday morning that a mountain lion may have been spotted in the Woodside area.
"A resident reported seeing a mountain lion this morning, 07/26/17 at 0830 hrs., at the dead end of Bardett Road in Woodside," a message from the SMC Alert system stated. "Be alert and use caution for any further sightings."
Following a recent sighting in San Mateo, police offered the following advice on how to keep you and your family safe from mountain lions:

- Do not feed deer. It is illegal in California and it will attract mountain lions.
- If you see a mountain lion DO NOT APPROACH IT, especially one that is feeding or with offspring. Most mountain lions will try to avoid confrontation.
- Keep a close watch on small children when hiking or traveling in or about wooded areas.
- If you encounter a mountain lion, do not run; instead, face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger by waving your arms; throw rocks or other objects. Pick up small children.
