Mountain Lion Spotted Near Los Trancos Woods
The San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services is advising residents not to approach a mountain lion if they see one.

The San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services is warning residents to take precaution after a mountain lion was spotted Thursday night in Los Trancos Woods.

At about 10:30 p.m., a resident noticed the animal near the 1100 block of Los Trancos Road, in an unincorporated part of the county, according to the OES.
The resident notified the sheriff’s office, which responded, but could not locate the mountain lion, OES officials said.

The OES is advising residents not to approach a mountain lion if they see one, especially if it is with its offspring.
Most mountain lions will try to avoid confrontation, OES officials said.
