Mountain Lion Spotted in San Carlos

The animal was spotted Tuesday night, according to county officials

A mountain lion was spotted in San Carlos on Tuesday evening, according to San Mateo County emergency officials.

The animal was spotted around 7 p.m. in the 400 block of Winding Way.

Anyone who sees a mountain lion is urged to not approach it, especially if the animal is feeding or with offspring.

People are advised to avoid hiking or jogging when mountain lions are most active -- dawn, dusk and at night -- and to keep a close watch on small children.
