Mountain Lion Spotted in Woodside

The animal was seen Tuesday afternoon.

San Mateo County officials are letting residents know about another mountain lion sighting on the Peninsula.

This one happened at 4 p.m. Tuesday, in the area of Eucalyptus Court in Woodside, officials said.

“If you see a mountain lion do not approach it, especially one that is feeding or with offspring,” an alert from the county sent out Tuesday stated. “Most mountain lions will try to avoid confrontation.”

Here’s some advice from the county’s Office of Emergency Services:

  • Avoid hiking or jogging when mountain lions are most active—dawn, dusk, and at night.
  • Keep a close watch on small children.
  • If you encounter a mountain lion, do not run; instead, face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger by waving your arms; throw rocks or other objects.
