A Novato woman was arrested last weekend on suspicion of drunk driving and other offenses following a pursuit and crash in San Carlos, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

A sheriff’s deputy spotted Janesses Moreno, 24, driving north on El Camino Real at Morse Boulevard in a vehicle with three other people around 1 a.m. Saturday, sheriff’s officials said.

The deputy, who suspected Moreno was driving under the influence, attempted to stop the vehicle, but she allegedly accelerated and drove away.

Sheriff’s deputies pursued and Moreno crashed into a fence before turning on to a dead-end street. The deputies boxed the vehicle in, but Moreno allegedly revved the engine and refused to comply with orders, sheriff’s officials said.

At that point, deputies forced entry into Moreno’s vehicle and used a police dog to detain her.

Moreno was treated for dog bite injuries and then booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of felony evading police, misdemeanor resisting arrest, felony vandalism, misdemeanor driving while under the influence, misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and misdemeanor hit-and-run, according to the sheriff’s office.

The three other people in Moreno’s car were not injured or arrested.
