OBITUARY: Redwood City Resident Marc Segal

Marc Howard Segal; May 23, 1955 – July 8, 2014

Marc Segal died suddenly in his home on July 8 at the age of 59. Marc was an extraordinary man who considered everyone he met to be a friend. He was multi-talented in music, cooking, and making things happen. He was an avid movie buff and had an amazing memory.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, MN, Marc grew up in the Jewish faith and completed his Bar Mitzvah at age 13. Through Young Life, he committed his life to Jesus at age 18 and has been an influencer of people around him ever since. He desired not only to bring Good News to people but also to serve them well.

Marc was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Bethel College in Minneapolis in vocal performance. He earned a Masters of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Theological Seminary in preparation for his ministry of serving others. He served children and youth for 10 years as an associate pastor at Peninsula Covenant Church, Redwood City. In 1999, his focus turned to serving seniors. He earned a Masters of Gerontology at Notre Dame de Namur and became executive director at Atria Burlingame and later, Sunrise of Belmont.

He leaves behind his wife, Daisy of Redwood City, stepdaughters, Gail (Orion) Burdick of Sunnyvale and Holly Meyer of Menlo Park. He is also survived by his brother, Jeffrey Segal and mother, Dolores Rosoff, both of Salinas, stepsister Beverly Foster of Rancho Murrieta, and stepbrother Jeffrey Rosoff of Chantilly, VA He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Segal and stepfather, Allan Rosoff.

His memorial will be held at Peninsula Covenant Church, 3560 Farm Hill Blvd, Redwood City on Saturday, August 2 at 2:00pm. Memorial gifts may be made to PCC Children’s Ministry, 3560 Farm Hill Blvd, Redwood City.
