The $1 hourly rate will apply Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The new rate was approved by the City Council in June in an effort to make more parking spots available in a “high-demand core area” of downtown for visitors staying for a short period of time.

Metered parking outside of the “core area” will stay at $.25.
A map highlighting streets where the new rate applies is available trough the city’s website at www.redwoodcity.org.
“We’ve all witnessed the wonderful renaissance and increasing level of activity in Downtown Redwood City over the last few years,” Redwood City Mayor Jeffrey Gee said in a statement.
“That ongoing success is bringing parking challenges, and we appreciate everyone’s patience. The new rates and other strategies we’re implementing will be helpful as Downtown continues its resurgence,” Gee said.
