Peninsula City Program Aims To Brighten Dark Holiday Season
"Brighten Up San Mateo" is giving residents an added incentive to step up their holiday decorations game
SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo has launched a program that hopes to bring some light to a dark holiday season.
“Brighten Up San Mateo” is giving residents an added incentive to step up their holiday decorations game and their neighbors an opportunity to bring the community together to celebrate the spirit of the season while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
The Peninsula city is creating an interactive map that will highlight community members who register their homes to create a driving route to showcase San Mateo’s decorative skills.

“While our lives are looking different this year, you can help keep spirits bright by sprucing up your home for others to enjoy from a distance,” city officials said in news release announcing the program.
A registration form can be found here. All registration forms must be submitted to Brandon at bparra@cityofsanmateo.org by end of day on Dec. 16.
