Peninsula City To Shutter Some Athletics Fields: Report

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo will close several sports fields amid reports of unauthorized use involving large gatherings, The San Mateo Daily Journal reports.

The city will close fields at Bayside Joinville, Los Prados and Martin Luther King Jr. parks the weekend of Jan. 9 for a second straight weekend according to the report.

The parks were closed last weekend amid reports of large unauthorized gatherings held in violation of a stay-at-home orders issued Dec. 17, the report said.

The city hasn’t committed to closing the fields beyond this weekend but could extend the closures if more violations are reported according to the report.
