REDWOOD CITY, CA — Nearly two acres of land near Garrett Park that was originally slated for development has been donated to Redwood City, Climate Online reports.

The 1.88-acre parcel valued at around $2.63 million was donated to the city by Casey Family Trust trustees Mel and Marguerite Casey, the report said.

City officials said the Casey family has abandoned the12-home development project “for the purposes of open space” according to the report.

“I have great hopes for what Garrett Park will become with this extra land,” Redwood City Councilmember Ian Bain told the publication.
