Redwood City Announces Playground Reopening

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City will open its playgrounds to the public next week for the first time in more than six months, the city announced in a news release Friday.

The playgrounds will open Tuesday amid COVID-19 guidelines for the first time since shelter-in-place orders went into effect March 17 due to the coronavirus crisis.

“We have been working hard since the California Department of Public Health released its playground reopening guidelines,” the city said in a statement.

“We’re printing signage, installing hand-washing stations, stocking supplies, removing fencing, opening restrooms, and getting our protocols tuned-up.

“While playgrounds will look the same, things are going to be different. While we know you are anxious, we appreciate your patience as we implement the final steps necessary in order to re-open.”

Picnic tables will be open to the public for shared households only but the city is not accepting reservations.

Water fountains and restrooms will be closed.
