Redwood City Appoints New Communications Manager

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF.-The City of Redwood City has appointed public administration expert Jennifer Yamaguma as the new Communications Manager, announced City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz today.

Yamaguma, who most recently served as the City of Milpitas' Public Information Officer (PIO), will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of Redwood City's communications strategy, providing timely, transparent and proactive information to the public. To inform and engage the community in City's public process, Yamaguma will oversee a variety of communications programs, such as newsletters, press releases and social media/website content. She will also serve as the primary media relations contact.

"I am very pleased to have Jennifer on board as our new Communications Manager in the City Manager's Office," said Stevenson Diaz. "Throughout her 20 years in the public sector, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to open government and transparency and balancing stakeholder needs. She has excelled in a variety of roles and has a keen understanding of government operations and services. She will be an outstanding resource for media, the executive team and City government partners."

Prior to her previous PIO role at the City of Milpitas, Yamaguma served in diverse roles with the San Mateo County Transit District and City of Santa Clara, ranging from Assistant to the City Manager and Community Relations Manager to Acting City Clerk and Assistant City Clerk.
