Redwood City Babysitter Accused Of Lewd Acts On Boys He Cared For
Sheriff's officials say the man also worked as a ride-share driver in the region.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City man is behind bars Friday, accused of committing "various sex crimes against children." The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office says 31-year-old Angel Leopoldo Gutierrez Monney was arrested this month on suspicion of lewd acts with a child under 14, sending harmful material to a minor and contacting a minor with the intent to commit a felony.
On Sept. 4, a concerned citizen called the sheriff's office to report a "possible child predator" who reportedly had inappropriate behavior with juveniles, according to sheriff's Det. Rosemerry Blankswade. Gutierrez Monney was investigated, and ultimately arrested.
Officials learned the man had contacted his victims through his work as a babysitter, according to the sheriff's office.

"The suspect was employed as a ride-share driver and a part time babysitter through a child care website," Blankswade said in a news release. "Through this initial family the suspect was able to charm multiple other families and children who became victims."
Blankswade did not say how many victims there are in the case, but stated "several young boys all under the age of 14 were identified as victims." She said the crimes took place in multiple cities throughout the Peninsula.
