Redwood City CHP Announces DUI Checkpoint

The sobriety checkpoint is happening this week.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — California Highway Patrol officers on the Peninsula will staff a DUI/driver's license checkpoint this week, the agency announced Tuesday. On Thursday, officers will "aggressively seek out and remove impaired drivers from the road."

The checkpoint is set to begin at 7 p.m. Thursday and run for six hours. The exact location was not disclosed, but it will be in the Redwood City CHP Office's area.

"It is the Department’s goal to use this enforcement tool to assist with the reduction of injury and fatal collisions that are caused by impaired drivers," the CHP said. "We are asking the public to designate a driver or arrange transportation to make sure they reach their destination safely."
