Redwood City Closes Streets To Allow Outdoor Dining

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Planned partial street closures to accommodate outdoor dining in Redwood City will go into effect this evening, city officials said.

The street closures are part of the city’s program to encourage outdoor dining.

The closures will affect Main Street between Middlefield and Broadway, Broadway between Main and Jefferson (Jefferson open to traffic), Broadway between Jefferson and Middlefield (Middlefield open to traffic) and Theater Way, city officials said.

Each street will have one open lane for emergency vehicles and pedestrians.

The closures will remain in effect until September 30.

Additionally, the city is expanding sidewalk space on the 2400 block of Broadway (between Hamilton and Marshall) and 2600 block of Broadway (between Perry St. and El Camino Real) by using parking spaces.

The streets will be open to traffic on those blocks. City staff will set up barriers between the traffic lane and an area where tables and chairs will be set up.

All restaurants, businesses and members of the public will be required to adhere to San Mateo County Health Orders regarding social distancing, face coverings and outdoor dining requirements.
