Altering landscape designs at homes and businesses is a great way to save water during this critical drought. To help locals do just that, Redwood City Water Division and the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) are hosting a free “Drought Resistant Landscape Designs” class tomorrow, March 21, from 9 am to noon at Redwood City Public Works (1400 Broadway).

The class will cover how simple, relatively inexpensive changes to landscape maintenance practices can help gardens thrive while significantly reducing water use. Learn about irrigation system maintenance, watering schedules, soil amendment, and mulching, as well as water-efficient irrigation alternatives such as drip irrigation and graywater reuse. Instructors will also give tips on choosing a landscaper and working with a designer.
