Redwood City Invites Community to Town Hall Meetings

The goal of the meetings is to make the mayor and city council more accessible to residents, according to city officials.

The following is a news release from the City of Redwood City:

Redwood City will host Town Hall meetings to engage the local community. The first of two Town Hall meetings is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 7-9 pm at John F. Kennedy Middle School, located at 2521 Goodwin Avenue in Redwood City.

The City Council established a practice of holding Town Hall meetings last year to make the Mayor and City Council more accessible to residents who may not ordinarily come to City Hall. These meetings are held in different locations throughout the city so the Mayor and City Council can visit the diverse neighborhoods that make Redwood City a great community.

“Hosting Town Hall meetings is one of the many ways for Redwood City residents to be engaged with their city government and provide input about the topics that are important to them,” said Redwood City Mayor Jeffrey Gee. “On behalf of the City Council, I’d like to invite residents to join us. We’re looking forward to hearing your great ideas about how we can continue to work together to build a strong community.”

Town Hall meetings provide an opportunity for the Mayor and City Council to hear from residents in a more informal setting. Unlike City Council meetings, there will be no formal agenda or actions taken. Spanish interpretation will be available. The second Town Hall meeting will be held on September 14, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Senior Center, located at 1455 Madison Avenue in Redwood City.
