Redwood City Mobile Home Park Evacuated Due to Flooding

Redwood City firefighters are helping residents of a mobile home park evacuate Thursday after flood waters rose high enough to enter the living spaces of some homes.

The voluntary evacuation at the trailer park at 1933 Bayshore Road is affecting around 40 residents, according to Battalion Chief Dave Pucci.

Water levels in the mobile home park rose to about 4 feet deep Thursday, deep enough to enter the living spaces of some residents, Pucci said.

Pucci said the mobile home park is located at a low point. There are pumps to help drain the area but with high water levels on the Bay Thursday there was “no place to pump it to,” he said.

An evacuation center is being set up at the Fair Oaks Community Center and the fire department is working with the Red Cross to establish an overnight shelter for those that need it.

Waters are receding and some residents might be able to go home Friday if their homes were not damaged by the flood, Pucci said.
