Redwood City Police Respond to False Bank Robbery Alarm
Police say they temporarily diverted traffic in the area Tuesday following the alarm.

A false alarm at a Redwood City bank on Tuesday prompted police to respond, and briefly shut down area roadways.
According to the Redwood City Police department, at about 2:03 p.m., a silent bank alarm was triggered in the downtown area.
“A perimeter was set and some traffic was diverted around the bank,” police said in a news release.

However, responding officers soon learned that the the alarm was not triggered for a crime.
“It was an accidental activation,” Captain Mulholland told Patch.

The scene was cleared in about 15 minutes.
“Officers take every precaution on these types of bank alarms including shutting down roadways around the area,” police said. “Thank you for your patience as we investigated the incident.”
