RWC Groups Band Together to Hold Annual Toy & Book Drive
This Year's Toy and Book Drive has been redesigned for social distancing and amid the coronavirus.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City-area first responders and other groups have banded together to put on this year’s annual Christmas Toy and Book drive.
The Redwood City Police and Fire Department, Police Activities League, and Parks Recreation and Community Services, have teamed up yet again with The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activities League, San Carlos Fire Department, Woodside Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, Redwood City 330 Squad Club, and the CARON Project in order to continue the annual Redwood City / San Mateo County Christmas Toy and Book Drive.
“With help from the Fair Oaks Community Center and a corps of volunteers, this annual event has become a welcomed tradition in the Redwood City community,” organizers of the event said in a statement.

“This tradition can only happen with the community’s help.”
Last year, over 50 local businesses filled 60 donation barrels with over 12,000 toys, providing toys to around 500 families that needed assistance, organizers of the event said.

This year’s event has been adapted to social distancing guidelines amid the coronavirus.
Deliveries in normal times involve a police car or a fire engine personally delivering presents to kids and families. Families at this year's event will be pick up their gifts from Santa Claus at a designated location and time.
