RWC Teen Counseling Program Starting New Intern Training Program

ACS recognized a dire need in the community for more mental health professionals with expertise in areas of substance abuse and the LGBTQ+.

From ACS: Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS), a community-based nonprofit agency dedicated to the healthy social and emotional welfare of local youth, will welcome its first cohort of 20 interns this month at the new ACS Institute of Psychotherapy and Training, which will provide clinical training in the field of adolescent psychotherapy.

ACS recognized a dire need in the community for more mental health professionals with expertise in working with adolescents, specifically in the areas of substance abuse and the LGBTQ+ experience. As part of ACS’s goal of ensuring local youth have access to comprehensive mental health and support services, the ACS Institute of Psychotherapy and Training will offer supervision, training, and education to graduate and post-graduate students of psychotherapy seeking training in niche subjects particular to adolescent and young adult clients.

The Institute will operate on a 3-year rotation program, with an optional fourth year that will offer guidance on how to set up a private practice and navigate taxes, rent, and insurance. A membership program offering continuing education for local mental health professionals will launch in 2019.
