San Carlos Man Arrested on Suspicion of Killing Redwood City Resident
He was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of homicide.

Police have arrested a San Carlos man on suspicion of a fatal stabbing in downtown Redwood City.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at Courthouse Square on Broadway at about 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
“When officers arrived they located the victim who was suffering from at least one stab wound,” a police statement said. “The victim was transported to Stanford Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.”

Police said they were able to identify the suspect as 24-year-old Jake Monahan, of San Carlos, and found him in the 600 block of Warren Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.
“The preliminary investigation determined the victim and suspect are acquaintances and were involved in a physical altercation before the stabbing occurred,” police said.

Monahan was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of homicide.
The victim was only identified as a 32-year-old Redwood City man.
