San Francisco Area Couple Compelled to Stand Trial

France Roy, the Chief Technology Officer of Balsam Brands, Alma Cabral Reynoso (Alma Reynoso), his wife, both from the San Francisco area, and Madelyn Rosario, from Union City, NJ, were compelled to stand a civil trial in Hudson County Superior Court, New Jersey, for their stealing three web sites and other assets (medicines info, funds, emails) from the Union City Feral Cat Committee (UCFCC). The trial will start on January 20, 2026, docket number, HUD-L-002788-23.

All defendants are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty. Nevertheless, a Superior Court Judge already concluded that France Roy and Alma Cabral Reynoso stole the three UCFCC web sites and ordered them to return them in a written Court order, the evidence that they stole those sites is overwhelming (find some of it at www.ucfccc.org ), their lawyers did not deny that they stole those sites in several legal filings, and under overwhelming evidence France Roy already admitted in writing to his fellow conspirators that he indeed had stolen those sites. Roy and Reynoso might also face criminal prosecution for lying under oath to the Superior Court Judge that compelled them to return the web sites they had stolen, and for their steal of the UCFCC medicines info, emails, and funds.

With the above the trial will be mostly for the Jury to decide on the damages based on expert reports and the evidence. The UCFCC is seeking $12,000,000 in compensatory and punitive damages.

The UCFCC reminds all organizations what they already know better than us. Perform full background checks in all individuals before you admit them. The UCFCC is a volunteer organization, made us of unpaid and overwhelmed volunteers, who made the mistake of giving administrative rights to Roy and Cabral Reynoso to its three web sites without checking their backgrounds. They simply stole them after they were removed from the UCFCC and only returned them after a Judge compelled them to. Paying a lawyer to secure the Court order to get the stolen sites back, and getting compensated for the reputational damages of the stolen web site cost many thousands of dollars to the UCFCC and several years of legal proceedings. All of that could have been avoided with background checks.
