Sequoia Hospital Among Top 10% In Nation For Cardiac Surgery
The local hospital was also recognized for its pulmonary care.

From Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital: Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital has been recognized as among the top 10 percent of hospitals nationwide for cardiac surgery for the fourth consecutive year by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. Sequoia Hospital received 10 awards for excellence in the areas of cardiac care, orthopedics, stroke, and pulmonary services – as well as recognition for being among the top 10 percent in the nation for pulmonary care.

This achievement is part of new findings and data featured in the Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation. The new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals regionally and nationally. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at almost 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.

Sequoia Hospital received five-star awards for cardiac valve surgery, treatment of heart failure, spinal fusion surgery, treatment of stroke, treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and treatment of pneumonia. A 5-star rating indicates clinical outcomes at Sequoia are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated. Sequoia also received additional awards for overall excellence in pulmonary care and cardiac surgery.
