Three Redwood City Teens Accused of Daytime Break-ins
Two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old were allegedly caught trying to burglarize a San Carlos home on Tuesday.

Three Redwood City teens are facing robbery charges after they allegedly broke into one San Carlos home during the middle of the day Tuesday— and then tried to do it again at another nearby residence, according to police.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office says the first incident was reported at 12:20 p.m., when a man who lives in the 400 block of Shelford Avenue, in the northern portion of San Carlos, found three burglars inside his home.
“The victim described all three suspects as young Hispanic males and reported being hit with some type of object but not being seriously injured,” officials said in a news release. “The suspects ran out of the residence and the victim called 9-1-1.”

Responding police officers couldn’t find the suspects right away, but about a half an hour later, a similar call came in.
“Just over half an hour later, at approximately 12:51 pm, a resident on Oak Creek Lane, in the southern part of San Carlos, reported a suspicious vehicle in her driveway and a suspicious person coming out of her backyard,” the sheriff’s office said.

The woman blocked the vehicle in her driveway with her own car, and called police.
“Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene and detained 3 young Hispanic males near the house,” officials said. “The description of the suspects detained matched the description of the suspects involved with the earlier robbery on Shelford Avenue; though in the second instance it was determined that entry into the Oak Creek residence was attempted but not completed.”
Officers apparently found evidence linking the trio to the earlier break-in as well, and all three were arrested, the sheriff’s office said.
Two of those involved were 17-years-old, so their identities weren’t released, and they were taken to the San Mateo County Youth Services Center. The third was identified as 18-year-old Juan Cruz Diaz, and he was taken to the Redwood City jail.
