Tickets Go On Sale For Filoli's Pacific Paradise-Themed Gala

The grand estate's fundraiser includes a sit-down dinner with a menu crafted by renown chef Ravi Kapur, live music and an auction.

WOODSIDE, CA – Tickets now are available for Filoli's annual fundraising extravaganza, with this year's theme celebrating the estate's connection to the Pacific Isles.

The "Pacific Paradise Gala," will take place Friday, Sept. 7 with a dinner in the garden by renowned chef Ravi Kapur, executive chef and co-owner of the highly-acclaimed Liholiho Yacht Club restaurant in San Francisco.

“We’re excited to partner with Filoli on their annual fundraising gala this fall to help raise funds for this extraordinary historic estate,” Kapur said. “Our team will prepare heritage-driven plates for the cocktail reception and sit-down dinner menu, celebrating the Hawaiian heritage that is special to both me and Filoli.”

The most recent tenants of Filoli, the Roth family, owned the Hawaiian-based Matson shipping company, the first vessel service to establish a connection between San Francisco and the Pacific Isles.

“Matson and Roth had an eye for innovation and they saw potential where others did not,” said Kara Newport, Filoli chief executive officer. “They saw the potential of Hawaii as a tourist destination and the potential of Filoli as a one-of-a-kind property that would serve as their home and a place to entertain for the years to come.

"The connection between Filoli and Hawaii was evident throughout the Roth era -- the family often incorporated pieces of Hawaiian culture, including leis, flowers from Hawaii and Hawaiian music, into the events they hosted on the estate.”

Planned at the gala, which will raise funds for the historic estate and its school programs, are a cocktail reception in the sunken gardens, the sit-down dinner with live music from The Alcatraz Islanders and a live auction, followed by coffee and treats from See’s Candies, an event sponsor.

Cocktail attire is encouraged, and individual tickets went on sale Friday, along with sponsorship packages.

The Pacific Paradise Gala Fund-A-Need will be dedicated to Filoli’s School Programs, which educate thousands of local school children, engaging them with nature, history and art at Filoli. With the community’s support, Filoli will deliver four immersive programs this year and will offer bus support and program fee waivers to undeserved Bay Area schools. Proceeds from the event will also support Filoli’s mission, from the care of the house, gardens and nature preserve to Filoli's full calendar of events and programs.
