Two Bicyclists Hurt in Woodside Collision

Though both riders were taken to the hospital, their injuries were minor, according to sheriff's officials.

Two bicyclists were injured when they collided as one tried to pass the other in Woodside on Monday morning, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

They were riding east on La Honda Road at 10:48 a.m. when one tried to pass the other coming around a curve just past Friars Lane, sheriff’s officials said.

However, the passing bicyclist misjudged the distance and the two collided and were thrown to the ground.

The bicyclists -- a 59-year-old woman and a 67-year old man -- were taken to the hospital and are “going to be OK,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

The investigation into the collision closed both directions of the road until about 1:20 p.m., sheriff’s officials said.
