Two Sought in San Carlos Restaurant Robbery

Two men who robbed a San Carlos restaurant as it was closing on Thursday night remain at large.

Deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at a Baja Fresh restaurant at 240 El Camino Real shortly before 9 p.m., Sheriff’s spokeswoman Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

Restaurant staff told deputies two men had entered the restaurant as they were closing for the day, Rosenblatt said.

One of the men aimed a handgun at the manager, took out money from the cash register and ordered her to an office to open a safe, according to Rosenblatt.

The other man demanded an employee to the ground and stole his wallet, she said.

The manager was not able to open the safe and both men fled the business on foot through the back door and into a rear parking lot, Rosenblatt said.

No customers were inside the restaurant at the time of the robbery and no injuries were reported, she said.

The first suspect is described as a black man in his mid-20s, standing from 6 feet 1 inch and 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 215 pounds. He was armed with a handgun and had a white mask over his face, according to Rosenblatt.

The second suspect is described as a black male standing from 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall with a skinny build. Both suspects wore a black hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored jeans during the robbery, Rosenblatt said.
