Homes Damaged After Broken Fire Hydrant Causes Oakland Mud Slide
Just when you thought you had planned for every possible disaster.

OAKLAND, CA — Crews are assessing damage to two homes after a car hit a fire hydrant Thursday evening in the Oakland hills, sending water and mud flowing, a spokeswoman with the East Bay Municipal Utility District said.
The car hit the hydrant at about 7 p.m. at Marlborough Terrace and Grizzly Peak Boulevard, spokeswoman Nelsy Rodriguez said. "We were able to gain control of the situation by 9 p.m.," Rodriguez said.
Crews stayed on the scene for a couple of more hours to deal with low pressure in the water system, according to Rodriguez.
