Kindergarten Tours at Rockridge Schools

The Oakland Unified School District and Rockridge area schools offer the following information for families with children entering kindergarten in fall 2013:

School tours, open houses, and other events for prospective OUSD students and families are planned throughout the coming months. Find details at www.ousd.k12.ca.us/schooltours, or call the schools you are interested in for more information.

The Options Enrollment window for the 2013-2014 school year begins Dec. 3, 2012 and will close on Jan. 18, 2013. This means that if you’re looking for a new school assignment in 2013 (including placement for incoming kindergartners, sixth graders and ninth graders), you should be prepared to submit your on-time application before January 18.

Chabot Elementary School

Tours of Chabot Elementary for prospective families are scheduled from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. on the following dates:

• 2012: Dec. 6, Dec. 13 and Dec. 14
• 2013: Jan. 9 and Jan. 10

To register for Chabot school tours, please contact Administrative Assistant Margaret Thorp at (510) 654-4884 or Margaret.Thorp@ousd.k12.ca.us) after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Emerson Elementary School

School tours every Wednesday morning at 8:30. Please call the office at (510) 654-7373 to confirm attendance. Tours will meet in the main office.

Hillcrest School

Tours at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Jan. 11. Call the school office at (510) 879-1270 to join the tour. The tour is for parents only - please do not bring children. The tour does not go into classrooms to observe.

Due to capacity at Hillcrest, placement is not a guarantee. Contact the OUSD Student Assignment Office at (510) 273-1600 or (510) 434-7752 ext. 4 for more information.

Kaiser Elementary School

School tours will be held on Nov. 27, Dec. 11, and Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. Kaiser will also hold an open house with question and answer period on Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. Call the school at (510) 549-4900 for more information.

Peralta Elementary School

Parent volunteers provide tours during the Options period. Tours are limited to approximately 10 people.  If you or someone you know would like to take a kindergarten tour, please contact Peralta’s secretary at (510) 654-7365 to sign up for one of these tours.
