Stray Bullet Kills Woman In Oakland Sunday

OAKLAND, CA — A mother of five died after a stray bullet hit her early Monday in East Oakland, according to a fundraising organizer and police.

When officers responded at 12:53 a.m. to the shooting, in a residential neighborhood in the 2100 block of East 22nd Street, they found the woman with a gunshot wound, police said.

The victim, who has been identified unofficially as Dona Martha Casiano, was a mother, businesswoman and member of the East Oakland community, organizers of a GoFundMe page said.

The organizers are trying to raise $10,000 for Casiano's family.
