1 Dead, 1 Injured In Residential Duplex Fire In Santa Rosa

The Red Cross was helping find accommodations for at least two other residents who were displaced.

SANTA ROSA, CA — A woman died from smoke inhalation and burns after fire broke out at a Santa Rosa residence on Friday night.

A neighbor reported the fire to the Santa Rosa Fire Department just after 10 p.m. after they saw flames coming from the duplex in the 1600 block of Greenwich Avenue, according to a statement from the Santa Rosa Fire Department.

A man found outside near a porch was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

The woman was found inside the smoke-filled residence after a search by firefighters. She was removed from the home and life-saving measures were taken, but she succumbed to her injuries at the scene, according to the Fire Department.

The fire was contained in about 20 minutes. It was believed to have originated near the kitchen. The cause was believed to be electrical and damage was estimated at about $400,000.
