2 Children Die When Car Goes Into Russian River

Two adults in car found alive, CHP said. [Breaking]

SONOMA COUNTY, CA – Two children died this morning when a car went into the Russian River in Jenner, Monte Rio Fire Protection District Chief Steve Baxman said.

Two adults in the car were found alive in the water, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident on state Highway 1 was reported around 8:25 a.m., according to REDCOM, the Sonoma County Fire and Emergency Services dispatch center.

CHP officials confirmed there were two fatalities at 9:09 a.m.Highway 1 at the Jenner Beach trail was closed in both directions at 9:18 a.m.
