MARIN COUNTY, CA — Authorities have arrested two people in connection with Tuesday's shooting in Marin City.

The shooting was reported around 1 p.m. in a parking lot in the 200 block of Drake Ave., according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

"First arriving deputies obtained a description of a possible suspect vehicle with vehicle damage and the occupants," sheriff's Sgt. Brenton Schneider said. "A countywide be-on-the-lookout was broadcast to all Marin agencies with the vehicle description."

Around 1:10 p.m., a San Rafael police sergeant monitoring northbound Highway 101 traffic near Manuel T. Freitas Parkway spotted a vehicle matching the description. The police sergeant followed the vehicle and waited for backup to stop the vehicle.

After authorities stopped the vehicle, officials determined the suspects traveled to Marin City to view an item for sale, Schneider said. A struggle ensued, he said, and a firearm was discharged.

Detectives recovered a discarded firearm on the side of Highway 101 near Marin City, Schneider said.

Isaac Quixote Rangel and Jasmine Ciara Medeiros, both 18 and from Cotati, were booked into Marin County Jail.

Rangel was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and carrying a concealed weapon. He was being held on $500,000 bail. Medeiros was booked on suspicion of accessory.

"The Marin County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the witnesses who came forward and provided us with accurate and timely information that led to the arrest of those involved," Schneider said.

"There are reports circulating that this shooting is related to the 'Trump Caravan' on Sunday in Marin City," he added. "That information is incorrect."
